My dogs are members of my family and I know pets are a source of comfort and love for many. That is why I worked hard to pass legislation that improves the lives of animals throughout Illinois and helps ensure that pets have responsible and loving owners.
I passed a law that prohibits pet shop owners from selling cats and dogs from puppy mills and allows them to only sell cats and dogs from an animal shelter or animal control facility. I was also a chief co-sponsor on a law that restricts all loan providers from granting loans to finance the purchase of a cat or dog in order to ensure responsible pet ownership and encourage folks to consider adopting a pet.
