Cristina is a second generation Mexican-American and previously a two-term Kane County Commissioner, representing the 20th District in Elgin. A marketing and communications professional, Cristina is a lifelong district resident and active member of her community.
Cristina was the first in her family to complete college and currently holds three college degrees: an Associate in Science from Elgin Community College as well as a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from Northern Illinois University.
A dedicated public servant, Cristina uses her professional background, life experiences, and compassion to represent the interests and concerns of the people she serves. In the Senate, she fights for working families and reaches across the aisle on issues that matter most including: fiscal responsibility, investing in our schools, protecting our seniors, and tax relief.
Cristina is the chairperson for the committee on Revenue as well as Government Accountability and Pension. She serves on several other committees including Commerce and Economic Development, Veterans Affairs, Labor, Transportation and more.
